Christians are familiar with the Passion of the Christ. The story is often told in the 14 Stations of the Cross which trace the final stages of Christ's human journey.
The story begins in the Garden of Gethsemane as Jesus prays to his Father, is betrayed by his friend Judas, then He is arrested, tortured, judged and then as a convicted criminal He is executed.
Somewhere in this story we know that Jesus and Dismas met and the “Good Thief” is changed by the encounter to the point where in the moments before his death Dismas asks Christ- “Jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom”.
Christ responds without hesitation and tells Dismas- “Today you will be with me in paradise.”
In 2007 Don T. , who was in Kingston Pen at the time, began working with Deacon Mike Walsh on a reflection on the Stations of the Cross from the view point of the Good Thief- St. Dismas.
Please click on the link below to see this reflection and take this journey with Dismas as he watches and is changed by his encounter with the Christ Jesus.
These Stations are based on a special version used by Pope John Paul II in 1999 so they differ from the standard set of 14 stations.
